School. If you were fortunate enough to get an education, you have experienced numerous feelings all at once, especially that first day or week in school.  Every child's expression is different.  Some are experiencing fear, excitement, curiosity, anger, or maybe even an assortment of these emotions.  The image reminds me of the countless amounts of times where as a young girl and even now, I still experience those feelings going to school.  Fearing the unknown, the unfamiliar faces, a new world as you leave behind the comfort of home.  Leonard Freed was known for his approach on humanistic themes by capturing human emotions and relations.  This picture was a part of his first project portraying the Jewish community in New York, a subject he focused on after the Second World War.  I hope that when you gaze upon this picture, you too can experience the same nostalgia I feel.
