Abelardo Morell "Manhattan Bridge Morning"
April 30, 2010

I chose this image by Abelardo Morell shot with the technique called camera obscura. He create these series by blacking out one of the windows in the room to create a giant camera then creates a small opening and put a lens. I chose this specific image because it gives me a sense of peace and loneliness. Sort of like a dream without pressure or stress. The colors of the picture are what gives it this emotion. Not only that but also the lack of people, cars and boats that are usually in this crowed city. The white couch is part of the this feeling because it's where we sit after a long day.

Ian Bradshaw, "The Twickenham Streaker"
1974, 200 mm

I chose this image because I love the way that it tells a comedic story of an exact moment in time. At first glance it looks like a simple image of a streaker. But if you continue to look, you see the man running in with a coat, the carefree body language of the streaker, and the way all the policemen are hardly concealing their smiles. After some research I even discovered that while this photograph is being taken, the man is pleading with the officers to let him touch the bleachers at the end of the rugby field, so that he may complete a bet. To me, this image sends a message about enjoying the humor of a situation, and not taking what could be a lighthearted situation too seriously.
