Heinrich Hoffman Collection, "Hitler in Paris"
1940
This photograph was
taken on June 23, 1940 by Heinrich Hoffman. Hoffman often published many
photographs of Adolf Hitler. I chose this image due to the strong historical
significance it obtains. It demonstrates the audacity Hitler had to pose in one
of the most known landmarks in France with architect Albert Speer, as a sign of
dominance during World War II. Hitler had established a plan for a massive
construction program and at the same time created a destruction plan. Adolf
Hitler wanted Berlin to be the greatest and most beautiful city in the world. He
didn't want Berlin to seem identical to Paris but rather make the architecture
far superior than Paris so that it can be admired by the world. Photographs can
be of great importance because they are not only pictures, but they represent a
great mark in creating history.
